How it works

  1. 01CPM is the cost of 1,000 impressions.
  2. 02CPM = cost ÷ impressions × 1,000.
  3. 03For a 4-week flight, impressions = weekly impressions × 4.
  4. 04Use audited impressions (such as Geopath) when you have them. Daily traffic counts are vehicles, not impressions.

Questions people ask

What is a good billboard CPM?

It depends on the market and format. Compare a face’s CPM with other faces in the same market, not with online ads alone.

Can I use daily traffic as impressions?

No. A traffic count is vehicles passing. Impressions estimate people who likely saw the board. Use audited impressions when you can.

How do I get CPM for a digital billboard?

Use the cost of your spot and the impressions your share of the loop gets. If you have one spot in eight, use about one eighth of the face’s impressions.

Every empty face is money you already spent.
