By Gabie Research · Updated Oct 12, 2026 · 7 min read

Short answer

Pick Apparatix if you need a full OOH back office: posting, proof of performance, work orders, real estate and billing, plus a CRM and AI profiles. Pick SignDash if you are a small US owner who wants simple proposals, e-signed contracts, QuickBooks Online and unlimited users. Neither publishes a base price. Neither finds new advertisers for you.

  • Both are built for independent billboard owners, and both do proposals and e-signed contracts.
  • Apparatix adds the back office: work orders, proof of performance, real estate tools and billing.
  • SignDash keeps it simple: a dashboard, unlimited users, QuickBooks Online and a WordPress map.
  • SignDash publishes one rate: $250 a year per extra 100 faces. Apparatix publishes no price for its core software.
  • Neither one finds and contacts new advertisers for an open face.

Pick Apparatix if you need a full back office for your billboards. Pick SignDash if you want simple sales software for a small US team. Both are built for independent owners, and both do proposals and e-signed contracts. The difference is depth: Apparatix runs the work after the sale, and SignDash keeps to the sales desk.

Blip bought SignDash in December 2025, per a company announcement in Billboard Insider. Blip says it will keep supporting current SignDash users and invest in upgrades. It also says SignDash "will become more connected to Blip's broader ecosystem, including data and programmatic features."

What do they have in common?

A lot, at the core. Both were built for independent billboard owners, not for agencies or big networks. Both run in a web browser, with no software to install. Both show which faces are open while a rep builds a proposal. Both send contracts for e-signature. SignDash links to QuickBooks Online. Apparatix's QuickBooks link comes from older and partner sources. And both start with a demo, not a free signup.

Both are also known names. Readers named Apparatix in a 2024 Billboard Insider poll. SignDash appears in that article's tool list, not its top results.

What is the main difference?

Apparatix is a full system for running an OOH company. It covers the sale, and then everything after it. That means charting the campaign, sending the crew, proving the ad ran, paying attention to leases and sending the bill.

SignDash is a sales and inventory tool. It shows what's open, builds the proposal and gets the contract signed. Then it hands invoices to QuickBooks Online. It does not list tools for posting, proof, leases or digital loops.

So the question is how much back office you run. If you have a real estate person, a posting crew and a billing desk, Apparatix is built for them. If you have two reps and an office manager, SignDash may be all you need.

How do the prices compare?

Neither vendor publishes a base price. You'll need a quote from each.

SignDash's terms say the base fee is set at signup, based on the use you expect. Each extra block of 100 faces costs $250 a year. Users are unlimited. You pay up front, and either side can end the deal with 30 days' written notice.

Apparatix asks you to book a demo. Its one published rate is for AI Sales Profiles. Those cost a monthly fee per user, plus a usage fee that averages about $0.70 a profile, per its AI page. Its 2025 e-sign rebuild moved to pricing per document, with no per-user fees.

To compare fairly, ask both for a yearly price at your face count. Ask what's extra. Then add the cost of any tool you would still need on the side.

How do they compare for selling?

Both help a rep move from first call to signed contract.

Apparatix rebuilt its CRM in May 2025. Its CRM page lists pipeline swimlanes, mobile access, four-week projections and AI prompts that help reps rank deals. Proposals flow to signature. AI Sales Profiles give a rep a brief on a business in a few minutes. It covers brand voice, contacts, competitors and local news.

SignDash shows open faces in real time while the rep builds a proposal. Reps can email an interactive map of the proposed boards. Contracts go out for e-signature. The dashboard shows occupancy, budgets, proposals, renewals and tasks. A 2024 sales funnel tool rates each rep on proposals, closes and renewals. It also tracks rep commissions.

Both are solid for closing. Apparatix has more depth and the AI briefs. SignDash is lighter and quick to grasp.

How do they compare on the back office?

This is where they differ most.

Apparatix lists mobile and maintenance work orders, warehouse stock, camera capture and automated proof of performance. Its 2025 review mentions real estate tools that show a fuller financial picture. Its long-time Billboard Insider profile lists billing, lease management and accounting, with a QuickBooks link.

SignDash lists none of these, except the QuickBooks Online link for invoices. If you need to track ground leases, posting or proof, you'll do it elsewhere.

Which is better for digital billboards?

Apparatix. Its fulfillment page lists automated digital charting, dynamic creative, schedule changes and programmatic links. Its homepage says its operators run both posters and digital faces. SignDash doesn't list loop, slot or play log tools. Either way, the ads themselves still play from your screen's content software.

How do support and updates compare?

Apparatix is the bigger shop. Its 2025 review says its team closed 7,619 support tickets that year. It also runs a yearly user event called Unleashed. In 2025 it shipped a new CRM, a new e-sign tool and AI profiles.

SignDash is smaller and more hands-on. Its site says it may build custom reports for a client, case by case. It also builds WordPress websites for clients that pull boards from their account. In 2024 it added the QuickBooks Online link, a sales funnel tool and a team feed.

Which is easier to start with?

Neither offers a self-serve signup on its site. Both start with a demo. SignDash is the smaller system, so there is less to set up and learn. Apparatix covers more jobs, so expect a bigger rollout. Ask each who loads your faces and contracts, and how long it takes.

Which fits a 300-face owner?

Take an example. Riverbend Outdoor in Jackson, TN, has 300 static faces. It has two reps and a part-time office manager. Its leases sit in a spreadsheet, and a contractor posts the vinyl.

For Riverbend today, SignDash covers the daily work. Reps quote open faces and get contracts signed the same day. Invoices go to QuickBooks Online. Extra users cost nothing as it hires.

Now say Riverbend builds 10 digital faces and hires its own posting crew. It now needs digital charting, work orders, proof of performance and lease tracking in one place. That is when Apparatix starts to make sense.

What should you ask both vendors?

Ask both the same questions, and get the answers in writing.

  1. What is the yearly price for my face count, and what's extra?
  2. Who loads my faces and live contracts, and how long does it take?
  3. Which QuickBooks versions do you support?
  4. Can I track ground leases and permits?
  5. Can I get all my data out if I leave?

Pick Apparatix if

  • You run a real back office: posting, proof, leases and billing.
  • You own both static and digital faces.
  • You want rule-based pricing tied to live availability.
  • You want AI briefs on leads before a rep calls.
  • You're a larger independent that needs one system across teams.

Pick SignDash if

  • You're a small or mid-sized owner in the U.S.
  • Your deals come by phone and referral, and you want fast e-signed contracts.
  • Your books run on QuickBooks Online.
  • You want your boards on a WordPress site with a map.
  • You want to add users without paying per seat.

What does neither one do?

Neither lists a way to find new advertisers for an open face. Apparatix's AI briefs a business the rep has already picked. SignDash helps close the deals that come in. If faces sit empty, someone still has to find the buyer and send the first email.
