Permit

A billboard permit is government approval to build and keep a sign, usually from the state DOT.

Federal law makes states control billboards near major highways, within 660 feet of the right-of-way. States do this with permits.

Many cities and counties also require a building or sign permit. So one board may need a state permit and a local one.

Permits can carry renewals and fees. A lapsed or revoked permit can force a board down, so track every date.

This is a summary, not legal advice. Check with the agency before you build or sign.

In Gabie

Gabie stores permits on each structure. It blocks holds, bookings and contracts that would run past an expired or revoked permit.
