Cross-read

A cross-read is a billboard seen across the traffic lanes, on the far side of the road.

OAAA defines a cross-read as a display seen across traffic lanes on the opposite side of the road. For U.S. drivers, that is a left-hand read.

On a divided highway, the view may cross a median too. That adds distance, so the letters need to be bigger.
