Right-hand read (RHR)

A right-hand read (RHR) is a billboard face on the driver’s right side of the road.

In the U.S., people drive on the right. An RHR stands on the same side as the driver, close to the lanes it serves.

Many in the trade see the RHR as the stronger read. The board is closer, and no oncoming traffic is in the way.

Not everyone agrees. In a 2025 Billboard Insider piece, one operator said trucks in right lanes can block RHRs.
