Left-hand read (LHR)
A left-hand read (LHR) is a billboard face on the driver’s left, seen across oncoming lanes.
An LHR stands on the far side of the road from the traffic it serves. OAAA calls this kind of view a cross-read.
LHRs are often seen as the weaker read, since the board is farther away. That is not always true.
One operator, writing in Billboard Insider in 2025, argued LHRs can win on roads that bend right. The board stays in the middle of the windshield through the curve.
He added that big trucks rarely use the far-left lane, so the view stays clear.
